(The process of decoding, stated below, is specific to this illustration only.)

“A lot of people are so used to just seeing the outcome of work. They never see the side of the work you go through to produce the outcome.” — Michael Jackson.

  1. Inspiration: Watching nature documentaries is an extremely relaxing activity for me (being a Zoology grad is an added pro). In a particular episode of ‘Planet Earth’, David Attenborough, the gem of nature documentaries, beautifully describes this extraordinary creature — ‘Portuguese man of war’. It floats on water directed by winds (just like we are “floating” through life directed by time) (this was a rhetorical philosophical tangent, I know) looking harmless and rather serene at the first look. It, however, encompasses lethal tentacles beneath the water — and BOOM! Strikes the inspiration for the next illustration.
  2. Research: Kept an eye out for its anatomical characteristics for the illustration to be scientifically accurate. I have tried to differentiate the zooids (part of the organism specified for a function) with distinct colors to represent their particular feature.
